1916 (approx) Started learning piano.
1927 Started learning organ.
1930 Now has A.R.C.M., A.R.C.O. and F.R.C.O. diplomas.
1931 Appointed Assistant Organist at Leicester Cathedral.
1933 Appointed Organist at Gainsborough Parish Church.
1939 Appointed Organist at Holy Trinity Church, Leamington Spa. Starts the Leamington Spa Bach Choir.
1940 Founds the Warwickshire Symphony Orchestra.
(1942-1946 War Service.)
1949 Appointed Organist at Chelmsford Cathedral, also Professor of Harmony and Counterpoint at Trinity College London. Starts the Essex Symphony Orchestra.
1953 Appointed Organist and Master of Music at Peterborough Cathedral.
1971 Awarded honorary Doctorate of Music by the Archbishop of Canterbury for "eminent services to church music".
1977 Retired from Peterborough Cathedral, started choir at St.Mary's Church, Wansford.
1990 80th birthday celebrations. Golden Jubilee Concert of the Royal Leamington Spa Bach Choir. Elected President and Guest Conductor of Essex Symphony Orchestra.
2000 90th birthday celebrations. First performance of the Billingshurst Mass.
2002 Moved to Richmond, North Yorks.
2005 C.D: The Major Organ Works of Stanley Vann published. Formation of the Stanley Vann Scholarship Trust announced.
